Student FAQ

DiscoverPhDs is an online database of STEM PhD opportunities available in the UK for prospective students.

We know that applying for a PhD can be a difficult process, but having open PhD opportunities in one place should make the process of finding the right project for you easier. We also provide you with guidance and advice from those who have undertaken PhDs to aid you through the process.

You apply directly to the university hosting the PhD. To do this, click the “Apply Now” button and you will either be:

  1. Taken directly to the universities PhD application page, or
  2. Prompted to email the relevant university department (usually the project supervisor) to express an interest in applying. Some supervisors prefer that you email them first before officially applying.

Each university has their own application process. Therefore, once the university receives your application or email, they will guide you through their next steps.
