Project Description

Leading UK railway research group, looking for home and international PhD students for research projects in Railway System Optimisation, Simulation and Testing.

Project area 1: railway operation optimisation for mainline railway and metro network, railway traffic management and control, next generation railway train control systems;

Project area 2: Railway rollingstock onboard control system testing.

Applications open all year round.

Funding Information

Funding available from sources including EC Shift2Rail projects, industrial projects from Hitachi, Siemens, Network Rail etc.

Eligibility Requirements

BEng and/or MSc degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Operations, Control Engineering, etc;
Railway related education and research background preferred.
